Search Engine Optimazation (SEO) is the process of getting your website into search engines (such as Yahoo,Google,Msn,Ask) and getting it listed at the top of the search engine results pages. If you build a website about “Hollywood”, you want to be sure that anyone searching on Yahoo or Google for "Hollywood" sees your website at the number one position.
Basic Steps of SEO
The main aim of SEO is to get your website listed in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd positions of top search engines like Google, yahoo, Dmoz(directory). All the major search engines allow you to submit your site. The following steps would be quiet helpful for you to fully optimize your site.
- Choose the best Keywords – This is the most important step in optimizing your site. You should have the best keywords in your site’s title and description. For this, use tools like Google ad words, Google suggest labs, and overture.
- Place Google Robot tool in your website – With the help of Google robot tool Google can crawl your website more frequently which will result in more visitors.
- Original Content – This is also one of the most important step in SEO. Google is very much particular about the originality of website content. Your site could be banned for this. Means Google will not show your site in its listings which will result in big loss. So make your website’s content original.
- Use Bold and strong tags at the Keywords – Use bold tags on the fascinating keywords so that they can be crawled more easily.
- Use the most relevant Keywords in the Heading Tag.
- Text to code ratio should be maximum - Text should be more than code
- Make a site map - Make a site map by using Google site map generator or other tools available free of cost on the net.
- Submit your site on major search engines and directories.
- Write Articles relevant to your site and publish it on various sites like EZine.com
- Exchange Links with sites of higher page rank - Search engines take into account how many other sites link to your site when deciding what to list in the SERPs. Links from other sites also make it easier for search engines to find your website.
